Priorities for the year ahead

Managers are offered support from the HR function in objective setting, personal development and assessing training and development needs. Setting clear objectives then assessing performance against them gives line managers the opportunity to link Experian's business goals to what is expected of an individual on a daily basis. This in turn helps employees to see how their individual performance contributes to both the division and company performance. Performance management is a continuous process that happens all year round to help ensure that individual performance, and so in turn business performance, is optimal. Every individual should have at least one opportunity a year to meet with their manager, set out what's expected of them and discuss performance. Experian International operates an intranet site for line managers to support them in carrying out performance appraisal and objective setting. In Experian Americas, each business unit president is responsible for establishing and communicating the business and financial goals for the unit they oversee, which are then factored into the employee’s goals so that each employee has a hand in helping the unit achieve its objectives.
