CR Performance and policies
KPIs
Our Annual Report includes two CR KPIs: our degree of employee engagement and our carbon footprint. Our environmental policy was endorsed by the board in 2009 and states that we intend to reduce our impacts. We have set global objectives to achieve an overall reduction in our carbon footprint over the next three years, from April 2009.
Employee engagement was up by 3% when we surveyed in January 2009. Engagement is partly affected by the extent to which our employees believe in the company and the way it operates.Employee engagement |

Percentage score calculated by the degree of positive response to a specified range of questions Score for 2007 is an amalgamation of regional surveys conducted over a two-year period No comparative data is available for Latin America for previous years |
Where emissions factors have changed, we have applied the most recent factors retrospectively Data in respect of air travel was included for the first time in 2007 2009 data reflects improved measurement and estimation processes which it has not been possible to apply to previous years’ data, consequently 2009 is not directly comparable to previous years. |

2009 data for emissions from buildings reflects improved measurement and estimation processes, which it has not been possible to apply to previous years' data. Consequently the 2009 total emissions reported are not directly comparable to the reported amounts for previous years. We estimate that for buildings, actual amounts of emissions in 2009 are broadly similar to 2008 levels and that most of the apparent reduction is due to the improved measurement and estimation processes. Emissions from travel have increased by 10% on 2008 levels as a result of the continued globalisation of the Group. Where emissions factors have changed, we have applied the most recent factors retrospectively to previous years to assist comparability. It should be noted that data in respect of air travel which contributes a significant proportion of our travel emissions was only included for the first time in 2007 |
